1. Decompose (or divide up) the shape into known shapes - triangles, squares, rectangles, or parallelograms).
2. Label each of these new shapes with a letter. 3. Find the area of each of the known shapes. Make sure you use the Formula, Substitute, Solve method we have used in class. 4. Once you have found all the individual areas, add the areas together to find the area of the whole shape. 5. Make sure you write your final answer in units squared.
